Mukkombu

The Anaicut was constructed by Sir Arthur Cotton in the year 1836-38 across the head of the kollidam at the upper end of Srirangam. It is 686 metres long but is broken by the island into three sections and hence is known as Mukkombu. It is about 20 kms from the city and the embankment of river cauvery have been developed into gardens and parks and hence is a very popular picnic spot.
